Looks like he installed some extra sound insulation. Perhaps an annoying rattle.

I don't know how much that little bit would help. I could understand an annoying rattle. Take care.

What I don't like is the road noise at slower speeds from the rear .. thinking about putting some undercoat type stuff on "plastic" inner fender liner.

Do you have the AWD model? Does the noise occur on different road surfaces? Mine seems to be pretty good on road noise, with the exception of the road surface that has the small pebbles ingrained in the asphalt composition.

OK. So why did you do this?
More importantly than why, is HOW? I want to remove the panel to access some wiring and any tips on how to remove the panel without breaking things would be appreciated

Usually just remove armrest, pull the tabs and lift. But I am sure the OP will reply soon.

I added sound dampening to my new 2022. I ordered from sharkracing.com. They sell kits for Hyundai/Kia vehicles.

This YouTube video is great. The creator has more for this vehicle.

Here is one door panel with the new material. Yes it helps a lot. I still have wheel wells and rear hatch to do
