Just took my 2020 Hyundai Palisade Limited AWD to the car wash and the fellow comes over to me to ask if I know I have a broken headlight. I did not and could not believe I had not seen it. Only the glass / plastic was broken, not a mark on the body of the car. I called Hyundai to see what it would cost to replace and choked. $1,677.53. They are the LED lights which are fabulous. The glass / plastic is not replaceable, you have to replace the complete light. So it will now involve my insurance company.

Just thought you might be interested.

If you have a deductible it might be worth buying a used one on ebay.
If you have full glass coverage maybe the insurance will cover it since only the glass is broken

I do have insurance to cover it. Just remarking on the cost. You cannot just replace the glass, I guess it is a sealed unit and it has all of the lights within it along with the large fancy marker light.

That is the way almost all the new cars are.
The head lights for my Genesis G90 were $3700.00 each

Did you check the post titled "Buy Parts Online"? Looks to me (I could be wrong) that a replacement headlight assembly 92101-S8010 costs $527. Are they charging you over $1,000 for installation, or am I missing something?

It could be these would work, it would require a phone call as it does not specify if they are the LED, it says it will fit all of the models. So this site will be good in the future if I am needing a part that is not covered with my insurance. I only have to pay $100.00 comprehensive for this one. I know that body shops typically get about a 50% to 60% discount from the dealers so that makes about half the price correct. From Hyundai and the body shop the part is $1,293.03 and the body shop gives a whopping $64.65. Thank you for the info it might help me in the future.

So I did more checking. The part number you gave me is for the Halogen lights, mine requires the LED lights. The P/N for those is 92102-S8110 92 and they are $962.02 which is about $300.00 less than what I was charged. So thanks for the info, it looks like a good place to go for parts in the future.

Also, this place I went online called Buy Parts Online is actually a Hyundai dealership in Albuquerque, NM. I went on Google Earth to check out the address. Here is the link to the LED lights. https://www.hyundaioempartsdirect.com/oem-parts/hyundai-headlamp-assembly-92102s8110

Thanks,

Just FYI, there are many sites like these which are run by dealerships who decided to make parts a side-business. You can play them off each other to get the better price. And what's good about these websites is that they often include drawings, which helps finding parts.

Here are a few for you:

Genuine OEM Hyundai Parts & Accessories | WorldOEMParts.com/WorldPartsHyundai | World OEM Parts Hyundai run by Ganley Hyundai in OH
Parts Hyundai | Factory OEM Parts Discounted | Online Dealer run by Potamkin Hyundai in FL
Shop OEM Hyundai Parts and Accessories run by Larry Miller Hyundai in AZ
OEM Hyundai Parts & Accessories Online | Hyundai OEM Parts Direct run by Larry Miller Hyundai in NM
Shop Genuine Hyundai Parts and Accessories | Delray Hyundai Parts run by Delray Hyundai in FL
OEM Hyundai Parts | Wholesale Hyundai Parts run by LAkeland Hyundai in FL
Genuine Hyundai Parts | Jim Ellis Hyundai Parts run by Jim Ellis Hyundai in GA

I bet there are more.

Speaking of fabulous headlights, the only complaint my wife has is the "divots" in the sharp light edge at the top of the field of illumination just forward of the driver's left fender. When we pulled up to the closed garage door, the right headlight has same divot, to the left of centerline of the passenger. When 25 yards out, the divot is a noticable dark hole, especially when shining against vegetation, cars, and buildings. After driving NE, Utah & Montana for a few years, the deer / moose reflex still kicks in.

I called it as normal for projection LEDs, especially as both are exactly same.

What say you? Thx.
Aloha.

I assume you mean the V-shaped dark area when you say divot. It’s normal and it’s there to avoid blinding oncoming drivers. On other cars, instead of being a V-shaped drop, it just drops completely on the left side (the right side illuminates higher). So you actually get more light with a V-shaped drop than you would with many other cars. If you looked at it from above, you‘d see light going far on the left, then a drop on distance to the left front (oncoming traffic), then light going far again on the right. If you look for the IIHS test charts for the Palisade, you’ll see it. And the Palisade LED lights are very bright and reach as far without high beams as some other cars do with high beams.

Thx, that makes sense. Picture from IIHS for 2021 Palisade.
Yep, that’s it. The V-shaped drop is that center left area which doesn’t illuminate quite as far.

Another thing: your screenshot doesn’t show the distance at the bottom of the chart, but if you go back and look at it, then compare it to other cars, you’ll notice that the Palisade reaches quite far.
